Reflecting Energy
Janice Hayes-Cha
Robin and the Sun
Reflecting on energy and matter got me thinking about the energy from the sun creating our verdant world. This piece started as a huge abstract depiction of the sun, but then one day a robin appeared in the back yard, and I was struck by its beauty, poise, and potential. The flowers, the trees, the leaves, and the robin are all by-products of the sunshine, co-existing harmoniously and interdependently in the universe.
Blue Moon
The night sky is illuminated by a huge moon, which reflects the energy of the hidden sun on the other side of the horizon. The sky is lit up, while the city remains somewhat dark, waiting for sunlight to help it shine. I completed this piece on the night of the 2023 Super Blue Moon. If you look closely, you will see the words Blue and Time collaged into the city buildings.
