Artessa Alliance warmly welcomes our newest members, Colleen Hammond and Nancy Agati.
We are so excited to have these two new amazing artists join us, and look forward to the inspiration and wisdom they bring to our collaborative.
Colleen Hammond is a painter and mixed media collage artist who recently moved to South Philadelphia. She’s been a friend of Artessa for a while through our affiliate Cheltenham Center for the Arts where she has taught, and runs a monthly critique with local professional artists.
Our members have always been impressed with Colleen’s stunning paintings, insightful collages, and her drive to contribute at the art center. Of her creative practice Colleen states,
“This is why I make art – to cope, look inside myself and create a language that will make sense of living in this world.“

Nancy Agati has worked collaboratively with member Rebecca Schultz, who was inspired by her approach to her creative practice and recommended she contact us about membership.
“Ideas occur at the oddest moments
then linger on pulling, persisting with little explanation.
…
Poised for reflection or simply to notice,
works evolve into new discoveries and further entities.”
These are the beginning and ending of a descriptive poem from Nancy’s website that beautifully explains the voice behind her art. Her multidisciplinary practice includes; works on paper, printmaking, sculpture, textile, site-specific installation, and public art.
