Opening reception Sunday, September 19, 4-6PM

Oley, PA, Aug. 2, 2021– In some cultures, you are given a name at birth. Around age 12 or so, you take a different name that reflects your personality or life’s work. During the initial weeks and months of the Covid 19 pandemic, as we were physically disconnected from each other, 15 members of our collective of women mother-artists collaborated virtually to reexamine our more than decade old name and mission. Our collective had matured as our children grew up, so we resolved to open our strengths to a larger audience.

By exploring our strong points and evolution, we decided on reinventing ourselves as Artessa Alliance. Tessa- referring to tessellations- are individual shapes that are linked together, creating vivid patterns. This reflects who we are and what we stand for: individual artists developing their own practices in diverse mediums, who often work closely together on projects – where the sum of the parts ends up being greater than the whole.

Join us as Artessa Alliance shares work from original and new members of our collective.
