Diane Ehrich
I seek to heighten awareness of the mundane miracles in the everyday, often overlooked, fragments of nature that surround us. I am particularly interested in bringing attention to our native plant heritage. My drawings emphasize the subtle beauty and importance of native plants in preserving biodiversity and celebrating our ecological legacy. Through patient observation, a discerning eye, and a sensitivity to our environment, I try to cultivate a sense of wonder through my work.
My work is influenced by my artistic training at Rhode Island School of Design and Boston University and my studies in horticulture at Temple University at Ambler. I worked for John Collins, a noted Philadelphia landscape architect who founded the native plant nursery that I later managed for eleven years.
My work is also informed by my volunteer work with a local park which is an ongoing native plant restoration project; hiking and exploring natural areas; and tending the rewilding of my property.
