10%, Megan Greenholt

From the Apart:Together Exhibit

I participated in an online creativity project for 100 days in 2020 with the intention to develop a daily practice. Most of my project was completed during the initial phase of the covid pandemic and quarantine. My creative practice was founded on these parameters:

  • Create a different still life each day using 3 objects that were somehow
related (subject, color, size, shape, etc.)
  • Photograph each still life on the same windowsill daily.

“10%” is a representation of this process in a reduced form, expressing the energy produced and consumed, over and over again the past year each time resulting in only ten percent of that energy being transferred to its new consumer.

Ten percent I give to you
Ten percent I share with you
Ten percent that is passed on
Ten percent of what is left
Ten percent now here it is
Ten percent you can have it
Ten percent that’s what I have
Ten percent is here for you
Ten percent now take it please
Ten percent you and I share
Ten percent yesterday, today, and tomorrow
Ten percent it’s sad but true
Ten percent every day every day
Ten percent can I still make?
Ten percent I can still make
Ten percent don’t tell me how
Ten percent this I know now
Ten percent you make me sick
Ten percent I can do this
Ten percent I cannot stay here
Ten percent I am finished here
Ten percent please help me out
Ten percent is why I cry
Ten percent I am still afraid
Ten percent here it is now
Ten percent left of what is
Ten percent passed on to you
Ten percent is shared with you
Ten percent is given by me
